I'm having trouble finding the best ways to render these guys, any help would be appreciated! Is putting them into a game engine the standard practice? I guess I'll have to learn a bit more about shaders etc.
Looking great so far. Really nice rendering. And for the leather texture that you're having trouble, study it first. Use some reference and practice, try new brushes, use blending options idk, go crazy. hahah
@Jeffrotull I never tried organic modelling, but I want to learn characters too :D @topic So I choose something simple(like a desk, box, barrel, phone) and practice texturing all day long?
self taught student who thought he could better himself by going to school but really learned nothing from instructors, just by constantly practicing and learning tips and tricks from people on the internet and some classmates. :D
Leinad what reference are you using for the body, have you been practicing anatomy for long? Seems like you have quite a good knowledge of it and wondered what sources you studied. Last wip looking great :)
when the low poly + textures look better than your last piece, and it's presented nicely. another good practice is to literally give yourself time limits. 5 weeks for a full model. separate the weeks into tasks to complete.
WAAAY too open. you can practically see the entire map from any point. It needs more compartmentalisation. Put up some walls and cover. other than that, its a great start to an arena style map.
This is my second iteration so I would like you to comment on my animation, thank you very much for your advice. I will continue to practice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_s-R4mF3fMU&feature=youtu.be
Of course Ptex is different from an auto pelt - but regardless, my point is that with the current limitations of game art (talking props and characters here), regular UVs are just preferable. It's not just because of technical limitation, it's also for practical reasons!
- Blocking Phase - Still a long way to go, practice does good to my rusty fingers. Planning to widen the hips, and enlarge the hands, as they look a bit tiny imo, also not too keen on the head`s "ear gear"
