Unless there is a very specific requirement for portability, i'd never suggest a laptop really. especially not a 600 quid (1000 usd) laptop. Getting a desktop will always be many times more powerful for the price. Even for mobile though? Won't a low-end laptop do? That might sound outragous but there are unexpected… -

Generally huge graphs just take alot of calculating power. Although SD calculates everything and then holds that informaiton in cache. When a change in the graph occurs only those nodes affected by the change are recalculated. So check your system stats again right after you changed something. Its just the nature of… -

Speed of ram, and then quantity is very important if you're running out of ram and resorting to virtual memory, that will cause a big hit. With 6GB, you're probably not running out of ram often. 6GB in itself is a strange amount to have on a dual channel board though, 2x3? 3x2? you want to run even pairs, ie: 4x2gb or… -

Barrier is lower in most other industries, because everyone wants to work in games or visual effects, so those fields are overflowing with applicants. But yes, it's still true that jobs often happen through personal connections. -
