I also tryied to use the bonus tool's make joints dynamic, with hair system or ncloth based, which is nice, but I can't manage my skirt to work with the legs moving as a passive collider for great interaction.
Seems a lot of technical talk threads are bleeding over into general ;') 3ds max in general has broken normal map system, IE it may just be a display bug. Load it into another engine and see how it fares.
what i learned, is that a fresh formated computer kills the will to do something 3d related except for playing i work best with a half working dumpshot of slowed down system dunno why but its just like that
I can't vote in polls for some reason, some sort of bug in the system. I've had a Crucial SSD for about 2-3 years now and an Intel SSD for about 2 years before that. No problems with either.
$15m seems rather steep! " It does cover the UDK assembling side of things as well, but the techniques could translate to any game engine out there with a similar grid system." I take it the tutorial doesn't cover Facade, then?
Looks pretty clear to me; a terrain system with a moderately high resolution triangulation, and they're just not rendering the triangles where the structures sit. The structure fits into the grid presented by the terrain quite neatly, hence its shape.
It's all definitely possible if you or someone on your team knows unrealscript. The hardest part I think is actually going to be figuring out a realistic input system for shooting basketballs, assuming you're using a mouse and keyboard.
Since it's an old system, and if you look closely, you will see that each piece is lighting it's own color. So keep it simple, just mutiply the diffuse by your fresnel term and add ontop of your final output.
