Try to get an exact frontal picture of him and Nail the features of his face, The best way to get it looking the same way as he does its to copy all the measures of his face. Also, try to make his expression less smiley :P
Yeah all you need to do is remove out the unecessary loops and rebuilding her form around the basic loops, after a few practice you get a clearer idea on how the face is like. but yeah solid engle flow so far on the face.
I think his face is taking up too much space on his head. Like if you just masked his face, blurred the mask, and then shrunk it a little I think it would work much better. It's a nice realistic model for a first try!
the Body looks really nice! but yeah, I agree with @Ged , the face is looking a bit off. Id take some time getting some screenshots of the face in the same angle as the concept and see where they miss-match. Looking good though, keep it up! :)
Thank you! We are definitely getting there! Still a long road ahead. Here is a male peasant complete with a new head and hat. I was also experimenting with a base beard texture on the face which I can add planes for on top for more variety in the faces.
Awesome model and awesome color..but my eyes just can't focus anywhere on the model and drives me insane, haha. Usually people look to the face for a character..maybe do something so we know exactly where his face is.. War Paint?
They seems to have a very organic "chiseled" style. And their proportions and faces are fairly stylized. While stylized, there is still an enormous amount of detail sculpting into faces and what not. While the texturing is important to achieve the look, the sculpt is equally if not more important so you should start there.
Reverse the normals on your hair cards, then set normals to face to reset them just to fully reset them. Then try transfer attributes again. This is because the face normal can point one way while the vertex normal can point the other way.
Decided on this concept by Chen Rayden: I've started to change the topology of the face to match, lots of work left with that. Really wanted to get some hair on her to help me frame the face and get a sense of where it's going, so I added in some quick.
looks like a normal direction problem....try highlighting the faces that contain the edges, select normal>set to face and then try the append again....I often get a twist from maya's bridge tool so I never use it anymore. hope that helps
