2 passes. the ball and the shadow. to do the ball you can just render it how you like and comp it using the alpha. I would personally create some proxy geometry for the hit points so they occlude the light a little. you'd make these so they only cast shadows and dont render. for the shadows you can do simple ones like that…
From what I experienced the surface characteristics of the various Intuos models evolved a lot over the different releases. Intous 2 (and 1 ?) tablets have a rather thick layer of soft transparent plastic, floating on top of the hollow casing holding the guts of the tablet, which makes the device feel very soft and almost…
oh hey guys, thanks for the kind words. I've been kinda bizzy with graduating (1 more week), so stressed out atm haha. But going to post some final shots soon, got the tank almost finished. Still needs a spec map and more decoration Thewiruz: My apologies for responding so late to your question. I started with a very…
cmtanko The key is using two UV sets for the same geometry. There first set is closer to the 0,1 boundaries to capture the big shapes, but the resolution will be poor. Keep in mind, Rogelio's beach normal is in fact tiling so it'll help with the outlying areas. Then a second UV set is created, in this case I made a tiling…
I tried to do a similar thing about a year ago, but instead of rocks, it was a face. If you separate the colours of he normal map in Photoshop and make good use of the layer settings, you can bake the normal onto the diffuse. However, all you really got after all that messing about was 90% the same as an ambient occlusion…
If you want to represent the roughness of the lower layer and the smoothness of the water covering it, the best way to do that would be to use a shader that allows a second layer of additive reflectivity. Bonus points if your shader allows you to use a separate normal map as well. Here's an example scene showing just that…
Rogelio's Gnomon tutorial helped me tremendously to get into SD. Watch at least the basic tutorials on the Allegorithmic site before you dive into other tutorials tho. You can download Substances on Substance Share and check out the graphs to learn from them. I would remind my beginner self that there is a sharpen node in…
"It's the end result that matters" is what I learnt in school. Staying away from photos for <insert random stupid reason here> is silly. Like perna says: why handicap yourself? Use whatever you have to use in order to achieve the best end-result. But yea, you shouldn't just take a photo, toss an adjustment layer on it and…
Awesome feedback, I will start reworking and polishing up his face asap. I found some good references for Wonder Woman too so I will try and give her some more definition. I have no idea if this is an easy question to answer but I cant find anything about it online. Once I get their forms worked out I will be posing them…
There's no harm in applying. If you're not contacted back, then your reel or situation didn't fit the company's current need. The general rule of 'apply six months later' is good, but it assumes that you have a considerable amount of new work. Do not apply again at a later date with the same reel. It didn't work the first…
