I finally got back to work on my train. Ive been really busy on my video tut (which is finished!) anyhow, here is the diffuse so far. Would you guys call that finished? or does it still need stuff?
Wow, that tutorial helped alot on the lighting. Thanks :D Great weapons btw ;P And how would I get started, I've seen your tutorial on creating base metal. Does that apply on everything, including diffuse-only textures?
Look into one of the procedural texturing programs, they do lava, and export normals, spec, diffuse, whatever. Filterforge is one, I can't think of any other ones off the top of my head They can tile things perfectly, I think.
Thank you for taking your time to comment, I hope this will get me closer to target. I darkened the red channel on the diffuse, and just slightly darkened the other channels. I darkened the specular somewhat too. Previously images updated.
Problem is I wanted to keep them all the same size, otherwise I would have filled more of the empty spaces. I dunno what other details I could add to the diffuse map. Aircraft have flush surfaces
The guy that goes along with the Bazooka: Critiques? So far, it's only diffuse, and it's all hand painted (well...except for the cig package on his helmet...which I'll go back and change.) The Tri count is of the character and all accessories except for the bazooka.
nice dude, are you planning on making that crazy car too? be sure to get some interesting texture on the windows and diffuse the lighting so the shadows arent as harsh and distracting. check these settings out for CE if youre interested too viewtopic.php?p=316529#p316529
I am 100% convinced this is the way you rapidly get better: https://polycount.com/discussion/98654/super-summer-character-art-boot-camp Just stick to making 500 polygon 256x256 Diffuse Only texture models. Make one a week.
Okay I figured it out. Because I was experimenting with V-Ray it changed all my shaders to have a white diffuse color- changing it to black fixed the issue. Thaank you for all the help. Always funny when its something so simple :)
So I've completed the low poly and the bakes. Working on the texture now. It's still quite a WIP but it's coming along. Much of the diffuse is not yet reflected in the normal map and will be added later. I'd like to get some feedback on the direction I'm going though. Thoughts?
