Yea that looks very prototype'ish. Most of the 'screen' looks like it'll be obstructed by the players hands, and the lack of buttons is concerning. -

Q3 has dynamic portals, you can see other players etc. through them before you jump in... -

I don't see an issue with it. As long as sensitivity settings are similar, there won't be an issue. There are some DAMN good players on the console.
