Maybe for the hand wraps if you don't want to do the spiral wrap, have leather around it with a sewn seam along the sides. Here's what I mean. http://9thknight.deviantart.com/art/Kukri-of-the-Foregoer-466380276
Not a fan of the leather wrap on the handle as is. I'd find a different reference-even if it is accurate. The pattern is odd. As far as the texture of the wrap, it's too clean compared to the beat up sword. Other than that this is looking quite nice.
Tweaked some of the forms in the face, and then took a pass at that head-wrap. The top of the wrap is still very muddy in particular. On the next subdiv I'll take a hack at making more sense out of it. :\ p.s. Those are not french fries.
Wrapped up the Monkey's Lowpoly + Bakes. Began skin texturing and felt he needed a high detail skin pass. About to rebake and wrap texturing. He really needs some fur, he's looking like an alien!
Still making progress on this environment and will be trying to put more time into it to wrap it up soon! Currently wrapping up the tree stumps highpoly sculpt. I'll work on the lowpoly and substance painter textures shortly after!
What is the confusion about the handle that you are having? What confuses me is why there are ropes of licorice wrapped all crooked around the handle. Your concept has it looking a bit more like cloth wraps.
I actually saw a tutorial on double wrapping an ipod with 2 condoms for underwater easy listening.. Who knows why they used two? Or maybe it was a digi cam they wrapped up.. Either way, condoms yea..
This looks fantastic! I love that hand wrap, it's hard for me to tell if the wrap is being held together by a rope or some kind of wire. If it's a rope then I am assuming you aren't done with detailing it just yet. Good stuff!
sure @snake85027 heres the finished cage helm heres some wip shots the shoulder design was completely changed after this pic, for a more "warcraft over the top feel" this was working on getting the helm shape correct. here i started on the horns and details, horns are thin foam from jo anss fabric, the main helm is…
Nyx - Thanks man! I aim to please. Stoop_Kid - Thanks! Glad you like them. You're basically right on with your guess. I've used other methods in the past for sculpting tiling textures like these (dropping tools down to the canvas or arranging a lot of stones/bricks/etc in a subtool, keeping them separate via polygroups). I…
