Maya 2009 has a "tweak" tool in it now where if you go into component mode, select a vert, edge, or face and hold the ~ key you can tweak verts, edges and faces around. It works best if when you are holding the ~ key you move the components with your middle mouse button instead of left clicking and moving them.
Sounds wonderful. If I need to I'll do it but here's hoping it wont be necessary. I haven't even begun to look at things like decompiling, I'm more of a "push buttons until it looks pretty" kind of artist. My only issue would be the flying death animation, if I scale that down he wont fall far enough.
@Farfarer When I Alt+left click the symmetry button I don't get any different popups, see image - I can see under the snapping form there are 2 commands with Alt and Ctrl so I guess this is something I'm missing under the symmetry form? Thanks for your help, saving me every time!
I've been using NEX all day today, loved it. Trying to convince our manager to buy it before demo runs out. Not sure what the poor implementation is referring to? I love the silo tweak functionality, coupled with solid soft selection. splitting loops, target welding, bridge etc all a button press and mouse click away.
Much better. If you want a quick and dirty way to post a wireframe, set up your viewport or viewports to show wireframes, push the "print screen" button on your keyboard, next to backspace, and then in any image editing program push ctrl-v or paste. Sometimes I like the way a screengrab looks better than a render anyway.
What's the geo this is being applied to? It looks like a cube? By default backface culling isn't enabled, but backfaces are shown black. I wonder if your transparency is working fine but you're just seeing through to the backfaces below it? [edit] I read a bit closer this time. You need to click the preview cube button on…
some instant export import swap button (like the zGo from zBrush) would be what would make me use it more as well. There are just way to many things max can do and silo not (instances, refernces, modifiers, real scene,..) but having it as a sub-editor for working out bases or do some sculpting would be nice.
Shimmer, edit>delete by type>history. Best thing to do is set it up as a button on the shelf. Im a bit confused about what y'all mean by 'sub' object. Surely anything at the sub object level is what makes up a model? F9 vertex mode F10 edge mode F11 face mode F12 UV mode
I still don't really understand the issue since any company worth its salt that you would be sending your reel to would have Quicktime installed. 'Scrubbing back and forth' means keeping the play button pressed and sliding it left and right, in effect being able to 'rotate' the model If you are looking at a 360 turnaround.…
They are working fine for me. If you haven't already, you'll need to register at FilePlanet before you can download anything. When you click one of Ben's links it will bring you to a "PLEASE LOG IN TO DOWNLOAD FILES" page. Click the big red button that says "LOG IN". On the right, fill out all that stuff and you should be…
