Okay, I'll take the bait. Metal Gear is the name of the fictional weapon program the story revolves around, and Solid marks the transition of the series from 2d to 3d. Boom !
Bethesda did the same with their weaponry, so I figured I might as well. It keeps pieces more modular, particularly for attachments that can be shared between multiple weapons.
Magno is right. Ditch those small cracks and go for bigger details. Those are going to get lost in-game where the weapon will be seen from afar and the textures are 256x256.
Here's an update on the model, just finished baking the weapon and little accessories. I got some optimizing to do,but overall the mesh is complete and i'll start working on texturing :)
Doing stuff like buildings with moving doors is a good way to start kinda understanding how you set up weapons and vehicles and such. Cuz yeah, it's not very intuitive.
That Terrorblade set is ace! Can't wait to see what the weapon looks like though I think you should definitely push the design of the shoulders and arms further :)
And here is our winter themed Luna Weapon! Glacial Night by Vayne and SLIMEface We hope you like it. Concept: Highly poly with initial polypaint: And finished item:
Really cool weapon there, and nice modeling and rendering of course. But the edges are too tight imo,it looks very accurate for the real-life model but not sure how it translates into the bake.
