Have you played Dear Esther? It's a valuable reference for you, I think. It's also a good story and experience (though I refuse to call it a game) and has a hell of a lot of good looking vistas. You can also watch a playthrough on YouTube - it's not a very long piece.
Before anymore comments appear, I just want to say that I don't feel a lack of inspiration or creativity. I'm def still inspired to do art, I guess I just need to refresh myself. In hindsight, the title is misleading lol, didn't mean for that to happen.
If you're playing for the art, then Castlevania is a really good choice - environments and character art are incredible! I will agree with a few people here that there is a lot of crap coming out and its got really stale. Its good to see a lot of new ideas coming from indie devs :)
I miss that...Now that I have smartphone I dont find much use for it, aside from checking the gmail when I am in the bus or play game dev story besides receiving calls. (yes I dont call any one unless it is necessary).<.<
could i see the uvs... could be a unfold problem... it has no effect in mudbox if you paint on a that dens mesh... mudbox internally only uses a 100k mesh to do the painting unless you incease the option in the prefs... its Face Count for Speed optimization in the paint prefs...
What a great post Haz. I think a lot of people will benefit from that. There was a post by Del a long time ago that was similar, but diagrams. I found it and know that helped a lot of other people. Heres the post from this thread : http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=88366
@two listen: Thanks for the advice. It looks quite a bit better with them lowered! 4.19.14 update: finals time so I've been a ghost, but managed some time today on it. Something about the face still feels off. Critiques and comments if you please dear polycounters!
To be fair to UDK, it works well on current gen consoles and next-gen consoles as well as browsers. Unity works well on Wii U and is getting there for other consoles. Small-slice mobiles aren't anything to sniff at, but they're not as important as smooth PS/XB porting for a lot of devs.
Good points, I'm gonna change it to just "3D Artist" and take down any WIPs and maybe some of the less impressive stuff. I think you're right about making the gallery the main page too. Thanks again for the suggestions :D anymore are def welcome.
I'm going to have to render it either in maya software or hardware, since this is meant for game dev. The real issue I'm having now is whenever I switch over to higher resoultion the vertex color completely covers up the rest of the material when I start painting on it.
