I started to dick about with custom textures last night and wanted to up-res my textures as a test, but it would crash Minecraft if I used a terrain.png file that was larger than 512x512 (I tried a 1024x1024 - initially just re-sizing the original texture sheet as a test). Has anyone had any success bringing in a bigger…
Ok I have increased the size's of the images, from their initial dimensions. So I have taken everyone's advice in that respect. I will try and remember that when I next amend my portfolio. I guess all that is left now is to just rinse and repeat and improve the quality of my work in general.... anyway thank you all for the…
It doesn't, but it certainly makes it seem more impressive to us because of his age. at least initial reaction wise. I know a lot of us (including myself) wish we had started much earlier ourselves, so it's great that you guys are into it so young. but try not to get caught up in age. just focus on your work, because…
[ QUOTE ] stumped on how to make the branches [/ QUOTE ] puntastic! last time I did branches on alpha planes, I used a mix of photo and traditional painting (about 25% photo, the rest painted)... I started just with a really dark brown base and painted the alpha map completely to my liking initially, then edited and…
Here's my initial blobby dynamesh blockout of the armor. Next is to refine the shapes and focus on the silhouette and primary forms. I find the first few steps to be the hardest, staring at a blank canvas is intimidating. Starting from a basemesh to extract forms can help make this task less frightening and speeds up the…
Similarly as above, all I can suggest is too open a work in progress on what you're actually doing or for that matter envision doing, either here or elsewhere, then perhaps a sense of direction you lack may filter down via critique and perhaps also provide an initial foundation upon which to further explore other potential…
Looking really good! Speeding up his initial roll into the scene and using a more interesting pose could make everything feel a little smoother. He seemed a tiny bit too slow coming in. I agree with everything Anthony said too, more forceful sword swings would make everything feel snappier and look really nice.
Thank you TheWalkerGod for the feedback. I went ahead and added a bit more noise to it. I plan to edit it a bit more and vary up the distribution. Any problems anyone sees with the initial noise please do bring it up. To KingKellogg once I get a bit farther with this project I'll go ahead and post an image of it in a scene…
Update #1: Ran into some minor baking issues. After my initial unwrap, I went back to refine a few things as I had made some changes as well. So the unwrap was a bit wonky, which I fixed. Only issue now is the ID map. I shall be looking more into it as I was needing it to get some more details in.
Yeah selling the car afterwards is another thing, it's not like it's lost money spent on magazine, tv and superbowl ads. Pretty sure that thing will be worth a lot of its initial cost when they sell it, maybe even more for being the Carmageddon car. It's one thing to not want to support them, but don't go and publicly…
