Gotta bump this thread... I'm having a very similar issue... Strange thing is... mine was working just fine for about 3 months, when all of a sudden, these shading errors start showing up and I can't figure out how to get back to how it was before... Here's my screenie.
Maybe Nightshade Color splitter: http://polycount.com/discussion/131731/nightshade-blockout-v1-0-tool-for-creating-blockout-selection-maps-in-maya Or this one: http://eat3d.com/forum/tips-tricks-and-free-videos/rgbcmyw-splitter-photoshop-actions Not sure about reliability..they might introduce some errors.
I was getting the same banding type errors your seeing when using the transfer maps tool in maya. Didn't end up finding a solution for it. Although i'm not sure how noticeable it will be on the final textured model, let us know if you do find a reason for it. Looking great btw.
The error message is enormous but begins with: System.InvalidCastException: Specified cast is not valid. I tried to take a screenshot of it but can't for some reason, nor can interact with the message in any way. I have to restart for it to end. I'm on a photoshop CC subscription, I have windows 10, and a GTX 980 graphics…
Thank you all for your comments :) Wanted to get quick test bake done (altough I wish I had turned on Aa and supersampling :p ) since I won't have anymore time for it the coming days. So normals only, and still some fun errors to fix :D
I saw there was issues about 2days ago on the forums where i kept getting a server is busy error and then from yesterday i have not been able to get onto CGHUB at all it just keeps pushing me to cghug... hope they come right soon or atleast say whats going on :(
Heh senility must come earlier than I thought then because I didn't even notice the math error in Ruz's post. Great story Seth thankyou! Very inspiring, and I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one in the same position. Thanks again for all the encouraging comments.
Cheers for the feedback Pior - that was my error actually, that was a Photoshop mockup, not a real render. I've changed the image now, but the Flickr page shows plenty of screenshots from the actual app. We did have a think along those lines Pyromania...we've at least got a drummer and a toy ring now!
Difficult to say but I'd guess 70-80%. The way I worked that out was by loading up the map with the content missing and seeing all the white and error models. It'd be good to have more maps especially when Valve releases the workshop which they recently announced is being worked on so go for it!
