Solved it. I simplified the material and used the WorldAlignTexture function instead of building my own. The downside is that I have to use a texture object, but its not big deal. I think the problem was the way that I had set up the World UV and not the material color because the end result was very orange still. The…
Couple of believability things. That Titan logo is sitting low on the roof, it wouldn't be visible to anyone on the street. Maybe place it higher and on one of the sides of the building? Also what is the kiosk signage doing up on the roof Who would be walking past and need to learn about SAITO Manufacture? A roof of a…
Hey guys, sorry I've been so quiet for the past few weeks. Here's some progress on the environment. I'll try to update this MUCH more frequently from now on now that senior capstone is over. Some newer shots Been working on material functionality too for the main wall material too. Puddles and canal water. And here's a…
Hell yeah, I'd like that. Just a question of whether or not I'll have time. I really like Spiderco knive's design. Both for functionality and for the simple, elegant style. Looks like a lot of your products are much more stylized than that so I may not stand a chance if I stick to totally traditional stuff, but I think…
As far as I can tell, when doing the box simplified collision, it appears to be functionally equivalent in size to a plane. So my guess is that it's making a box with a height that's 0 units (which is basically a two sided plane). So perhaps you could experiment in your 3d modeling package with either two sided planes, or…
Hello, I've been working on some model of Flash in my free time at work. I wanted to learn a bit about anatomy and train my modeling skills at same time. The wireframe is probably not that functional animation-wise. Critics are welcome! Model has 3.3k triangles (without toon lines)and just diffuse at the moment: A quick…
As a matter of fact, I think there is a notable difference ! Snapping/aligning functions are probably the most important tool to an environment artist, and the consensus (as far as I heard, and experienced first-hand) is that those are more powerful in Maya than in Max. Now of course good stuff is achievable in both, but…
https://gist.github.com/monsterblues/5cc668001a7cf16ec500 I've got this function laying around. It's part of a much larger tool set. Let me know if it doesn't work for you. It's complex because you have to detach by Material ID, and then hunt through multi sub object materials. To use the objects should be edit polys or…
Another small update for today. Having some fun playing around with head designs. I'll be posting more body explorations soon. Thanks brother. Haha, sorry I boggled you. I'm reworking his kit a bit and moving around parts of his body to function for his abilities. Your concerns are valid, but don't fret, it's not final yet!
What sort of environment? Art deco is a pretty wide aesthetic, and there's a big difference between, say, a hotel lobby or the cabin of a submarine captain. If you already have a specific idea of the function of your environment, telling us would help us suggest some references. If you don't, I'd highly recommend thinking…
