I quite fancied having a go at making some FX using Pop Art for direction (whilst it doesn't fit in the categories much, it's a bit of fun to try out). Playing with halftone generation in the shader: https://youtu.be/Eccjk0FHNkY I'm not sure what "status effect" it might result in, but maybe I'll need to go in the fire/ice…
Bifrost is "just" visual programming. You can do everything with it form rigging to modeling to world building. For now its only for FX, yes. Does take some more years until we see procedural modeling with Bifrost. Did a little test yesterday. Just as an inspiration. https://youtu.be/109LnXiEQV8
Hoping to complete an entry for this month's contest (Damn you steam summer sales :D ) It is a pugna wand! Here a partial step by step with a super majestic layout... Quick question about Particle FX: What control do we have on them exactly? In terms of editing, adding, replacing, attaching? Cheerios.
Look up a guy named Allan Mckay, his career specializes in simulation FX and post. He has a few good free tutorials on the various programs TP, Realflow, Fumefx, and Afterburn. Other than that there are several tutorial hubs that do Real Flow as well. Straight forward, Fun program :P.
personally I have a single GTX 580 and can run BF3 on ultra easily so maybe that'll put some perspective here and there. Also unless you're planning on GPU Rendering and FX (top of my head Fumefx/Vray) you don't need a 4gb card as no game will take advantage of it.
Update: -FInished textures -More composition tweaks -Added sand layer to the most of the objects textures -Sand plane tweaks No sketchfab update for today, just some screens of new FX on old scene(would be nice to have some advices on this): Planning to add some sandstorm around the scene as the finishing touch.
@CompanionCube I'm on Windows 10 with an AMD R9 390, and an AMD FX 8350, so the Nvidia problems are ruled out for me. Power management I did actually try but had no success. I do use a Wacom, but I don't always have it plugged in. I'll give that an experiment tonight, thanks!
A lot of motion graphics guys use Videocopilot.net as a resource for that kind of stuff. It's largely focused on the visual effects component but I know that Andrew Kramer (the guy who is in charge over there) has some great audio assets too which are pretty cheap. Definitely worth the investment! LINK: Designer Sound FX
