Trying to import some Max files into Maya, and cannot delete some layers... Script Editor shoots out, "// Error: line 0: Non-deletable node 'Effects' cannot be deleted." Was wondering if anyone knows why. Thanks.
if you want to do scripting or shaders, reading forums is going to be a regular thing discord servers are good for quick help too and theres basically one for every program
There is also a lot of maya scripts to save and re-project the skinweight based on the local/world space instead of the vertex position. It can maybe be better than the maya tools.
I'm not a Gimp user, but after a bit of googling it looks like you need the decompose script. http://www.gimptalk.com/index.php?/topic/12140-alpha-channel-how-to-edit/
There are some free scripts around that will replace meshes automatically for you. You could also use the Merge command, there's an option to replace existing meshes with the same names, iirc.
Trying to make the shift from Environment artist to more technical artist. Been spending a lot of time lately setting up shaders, writing scripts and tools and whatnot.
Yes there is! sort_circle_tool for Maya: vimeo.com/65246315 (download in comments, it works best with border loops) And Loop regularizer for 3dsMax: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/loop-regularizer
You won't be able to create such particles if you don't know how to script or create expressions in Maya. Unity will be way faster and easier for you to do such things, or UDK.
