aim higher than competent. And Johny is right. THere are many many many many factors that might land you a job..but the thing that will always land you a job 99% of the time over the competition is awesome work. How does one become awesome: Observe, Practice..repeat
ha ha I was guessing render engines, light as in baking like turtle, MR,... OpenCanvas is a neat painting and simple image editor that can do that. Gimp is bigger one but I think that 99% of the users here are using photoshop anyway and then there is usually no need to search for a alternative.
One thing present in that performance missing from 99% of the "music industry", and that's passion. Fire. Soul. Call it what you want, but those musicians have it and the ones you hear on the radio don't. Makes me wanna dig out my old vinyl collection again...
It doesn't fall apart at the high angles like the normal map method. Although I have to admit It looks exactly the same 99% of the time as the normal map way, its just that 1% when you are looking at a person from the side it would help. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
no problemm 99% of sucess is makking errors, you just have to know when you have made one in order to learn,, my god i can't even count the stupid mistakes i have made in my years at this, be sure to keep us updated of progres
I had mild carpal tunnel a few years ago, had to get steroid injections for it. It's not like I'm flinging my wrist like a mad man. I use my wacom for windows navigation and modeling, too. Using the mouse for modeling relieved 99% of the pain I used to get.
i stopped giving general feedback for a while now because in 99% of the cases it falls on deaf ears. i only give feedback if the artist personally requests it. other wise if i see good art i will just post "that's awesome" because that helps too to complement someone for hard work.
I'm not sure what you're saying, the top floater looks seamless and would bake seamless, or 99% close enough to seamless. The middle one is flat and not curved to match the surface, and you can see the outline. The bottom is without the outline geometry. I wanted to show the differences between the three methods.
One thing to note, is that it can be GOOD to have some excess space. You want to leave room for plenty of padding, so you never want ultra-tight 99% used uvs or whatever, its just counter productive. Its going to mip to hell when its put in game.
Love it. Reminds me of ut'99 but prettier, and with more stuff (in ways). It kills my computer, but runs decently on my brother's. You know what my favorite feature is? The F button. So much fun. I can see it being useful somehow in a tactical situation if properly executed.
