Very well done! It's clear that you spent a lot of time and effort on this, and because of your resulting clean presentation, I am totally going to copy you as a template for mine. Mua-hahahhhhaaahha!! (Well, maybe not for this project, but for future ones.) Good Job, dude!
Thanks for the report, Brygelsmack! I'll forward it to the developers. If in the future you would like a direct line to contact us about bugs and concerns, please join the Quixel Tools Group on Facebook, and feel free to post anything that comes up! From Teddy:
this slide killed my color vision for 3 days... and it got posted yesterday, so you know what that means. i hate yellow use low contrast themes for your slides, you dont want to ruin your future coworkers eyes
"Put on hold" is another way of saying "never working on it again". If you aren't interested in working on it now, I don't see what would change in the future. You may believe you have unique snowflake status but odds are good that you don't. :)
Yeah I read that extra geo helps, but with Maya it can get overwhelming to deal with too much geo. The 3ds Max modifier stack looks pretty useful for a situation like this so I might look into that program for future hard surface models.
Ah thanks @HixaLupa :) I've made a few changes to the texture, and did some fancy renders: There's more images on my website. I did get some feedback from the original artist, so might make some changes to it in the future. But for now I'll leave it at that.
Thanks, but I haven't been able to keep consistent help and have moved onto other things for now. If you are very interested in the project, keep it in mind and get back to me in the future as I'll be doing more work on it when I have time.
In school? O_o looks like you have a bright future ahead of you considering what's in here! Lovely style, very atmospheric pieces with a lot of mood, your characters have a lot of style too, would be interesting to see them in one of these environments!
Ok all! A year or so later, I had been able to make some time for the shaders. It will be a three part tutorial, I just made the first part and will make the next videos sometime in the very near future. https://youtu.be/6w6mURD-UsA
Here's the finished product on the Steam Workshop: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=138972666 If anyone has questions about the process, I'd be happy to help! I plan on making some more weapons in the future when I get some more time!
