Made a little progress today. I've started blocking out the main shell of the interior, and layed out some UVs for certain areas. Got a ways to go! -

I smell troll..... To animate that its just alot of scaling, rotating, keying visibility, etc. Its all simple animation done well. And great rendering. -

odd, have you tried putting a quick shell modifier on them? Might fix the normals and at least block the light coming through from the other side. -

Thanks man, that helps. i looked around and i guess it was called the "up one folder" button, doesnt apear to be an option now without a shell extension -

Awesome stuff! I am kinda relieved that also the pros have to fight with normal map waviness in some places (see the shotgun shells for example) xD -

@Brian "Panda" Choi I think not (?) I don't know what's a proxy hair shell (I assume it's a cage?) Which's the diference with baking Normals into a plane? -

What I did to fix the windows 8 problem, for the most part anyway, was install classic shell. It turns 8 into 7 ..or close enough. http://www.classicshell.net/ -

I'm assuming you've split your UVs at hard edges . If so you want more padding between uv shells and/or more padding on your bake -

Thank you both for the advice and the hind to the very helpful thread. With another UV unwrap and the right alignment of the UV shells I got a much better result.
