You probably needed to reset your selection tool. Double click on the cursor (Selection Tool) in the left toolbar, then reset it from the menu in the panel that comes up. You can toggle stuff like "Drag Selection" and "Camera-Based Selection" in there (the latter is essentially ignore backfaces.)
OMG I found it. Holding down Ctrl will change things for the masking options. So while I hold down Ctrl and set the Focal Shift to -100 in the top toolbar on the main viewport, it fixes it. ZBrush n00b, this is what I get. Was this: Now I get this. YAY!
Louhikarme - Im glad you sovled it with Captains help! Ddo does indeed not like AA :) Victorcg - Yes it is possible to reload the Color-ID map, just use the Reimporter button on the DDO main toolbar. Is your issue that you are doing that but the project doesn´t update?
Looks like you've turned on soft selection. Double click the select (or translate/rotate/scale) tool on the left toolbar and in the tool settings palette uncheck soft selection. I'm not a regular Maya user so I don't know what the hotkey is, or if there even is one by default.
I have all the Max "Additional" (user) folders pointed to dropbox on 3 different machines. Then I just Save Custom UI Scheme and load it on the other machines when I make a hotkey or toolbar change. Keeps everything nicely in sync without much effort.
Thanks :) If you want a better view on how a mesh is used in a level use the Primitive Stats, found in View - Browser Windows at the top toolbar. That shows you instantly how many times which mesh has been used in the level among other important info.
After selecting your mesh, in the maya polygons toolbar go to the mesh tab and then click smooth. If you want to see a preview of the smoothed mesh before actually smoothing, select your mesh then press "3". Press "1" to go back to the normal mesh after previewing.
It's super annoying. I either close it, or render out a quick preview. I bound "Make Preview" to alt-p I use it so much. You can't really relay on the viewport for much sometimes... Hey, Monster, your toolbar/scripts work in 2010 right?
Try hitting the 'Zoom Document' button on the right toolbar beside the Tool palette. Also, hide any subtools that are not the plane you are trying to frame, and then press Frame. Then bring back the subtools you want. Your document should completely frame your plane assuming all are square.
Select your material and in the top toolbar of the material editor you will see a checkerboard button with a yellow circle in the corner. It's grayed out if the material or a bitmap isn't selected. Click to "Show Standard Map in Viewport". Also go into your diffuse bitmap node and set alpha source to none.
