Look good! In my opinion ventilation shafts must be darker for better look, at the moment it's merge with whole color of construction, I can barely see normal and spec maps here also it will be nice to post wire, so it'll be clear is' it low poly or so
Hey. First off, thanks for making this! My colleagues and I were trying to use it, and we figured out that having alphas in the normal maps causes the maps to turn green. Is there anyway to disable that? We use alphas in our normals for our spec maps. Thanks!
If you read my post you will see that I plan on doing both ;) @TychoVII The only refs I used were the two images posted earlier in the thread :) Will continue working on the diffuse and spec maps, still some ways to go before calling it done :)
Congrats on squeezing so much out of the limited Dota specs ! It is quite remarkable really. Great job ! And such a slick presentation too. Loving the way all the pages are linked together, it makes thumbing up everything very easy. Can't wait to see it added to the game !
For what I can see, doesn't look bad. But then I can't see anything! Light gray model, dark gray background, use spec to help define shapes, not to mess things up! I made an ak47 model as well, and I presented it this way:
Nicey, what bugs me is that raytraced render with no spec/gloss.Why don't you use a nice game engine like udk or cryengine ? :D or even marmoset with some nice lighting scheme and stuff.I also think the textures look a bit blurry for a closeup shot.
Its just used to condense maps. Instead of having a seperate texture for an opacity map, you can store opacity information in the alpha channel of a different map. Or a spec mask, or a gloss map, pretty much any texture or mask that can be represented in gray scale...
Thanks! For the gloss map, I was under the impression that more texture work goes into the spec, while the gloss generally remains a flat color. Is that wrong? I'll definitely go back and remove some of the dirt and color it a bit as well as adding rust where I can.
problem solved!!!!!!!!! thanks again mop. i just opened up a new material. and it worked. really weird. thanks man!!!! i'll post after i make the diffuse/spec. only thing is...i don't know how to render normal maps. haha.
hmmm yeah I can't find anything on the specs either. I hope it can at least run some next-gen games, even if thats not its focus. I think i now actually like the 'wii' name also, its grown on me.
