These classes might be great but personally I'd go for more drawing/painting workshops. Solid art fundamentals are going to help way more than knowing what buttons to push in ZBrush to make something look pretty :) Having said that I heard a lot of good things about Katon's class!
You should be able to add these commands just by holding down Ctrl and Shift then going to the "Windows" menu and selecting an option from "View Arrangement" when I do that I get a button with a command like this: "FourViewArrangement" Which switches my view to four windows. This also works for saved layouts.
the orbit thing yes, click and hold the orbit button and choose the rotate around selected subobject option the performance thing. step 1: stop throwing 11 million tri meshes at it step 2: buy Nvidia and use nitrous if you want to mess with things over 2 million tris
great job! id say that its missing AO in plenty of places which would make it more solid looking like in her belly button area where that round piece in the animal's mouth is, the outer side of her legs, and below her giant belt buckle, not too much more.
@ PyrZern If your character is going to use a single texture map set ( Same UVspace) then you can combine these pieces at Maya. At max there is a Attach button allowing you to attach meshes together. When they are attached they use the same UV space. Then you can edit them however you like.
floating geometry is for things that are small or indents that would be a pain to really cut into the geometry. things like bolts, buttons, and the like are always floating geometry because why do it any other way. i forgot on my list to add: Leave the damage for photoshop or mudbox/zbrush, its faster and easier.
It looks like you don't have your angle snaps on. I would suggest turning them on at least for rotating the mirror, that way it will always be 90 (or 180) degrees. The angle snap button is the red magnet with the arc on it. You might have already done that, but its just something I noticed.
Hey Oiban, Firstly, welcome to Polycount. But the image you linked seems to be some code for lightbox, which won't work. To post images here, you'll have to use the VB code image tags or use image attachments (for these, you'll have to click the "Go Advanced" button to use the advanced editor).
Hi, I like the fact that it is easy to navigate and overall looks nice enough. However I don't really like the heavy compression of the images on the buttons and what not. It would also be nice to see some higher res stuff, as was said, especially with the new consoles lurking around the corner. Keep it up.
The steps required: CTRL+LMB on the layer mask which contains the scratches you wish to use. This will select the layer's opacity as a selection in Photoshop. Select the text layer. Click the layer mask button at the bottom of the layer stack to create a layer mask for that text document from the current active selection…
