The bug I had was I didn't reset the tangents from the mesh I sent from Maya. After some baking tests with VRay, I have no good normals map. You need to save it to the default place max saves the UI files as maxstart.ui or whatever its called, thats normally in the 3dsmax folder/ui I think.
