It'll all get better with time as all this stuff is very new to most companies. Keep in mind things like first generation console games versus 2nd and 3rd gen. Even though they are running on the same tech, the games look far incredibly better due to improved techniques, and understanding out how to push the technology… -

You shouldn't have any problems doing this when you're rendering in Max, either with scanline or mental ray. In the viewport is another matter though, mirroring always seems to create a seam in the viewport. Unreal has a special hack, similar to what I've used in a different custom engine, where the artist assigns a 2nd UV… -

Have Windows Explorer open and just drag and drop files into Photoshop? I keep an Explorer window or three open on my 2nd monitor for this reason. I guess it's not so good if you just have one monitor though. I Also have Shift+E set to open the current Irfanview image in Photoshop. Sorry if I haven't really answered your… -

I like the dell that's been posted quite a bit, and would recommend that as well. Got one a few months back and it's really nice. I have it as my main monitor with a dell 2001fp(S-IPS panel) as my 2nd monitor and the viewing angle+color reproduction seems to be very close. I'm hoping they come out with a 24" version in… -

I dont have a set process, it changes according to what it is I am texturing but basicly I try to do this. 1st layer base colours(usually 2 or 3 solid colours) 2nd layer lighting and shadow 3rd layer details (decals, paintwork, scratches etc) sometimes 4th layer(baked AO on multiply) then more layers get added inbetween…
