Hey ya'll, I've been playing with APEX cloth the past 2 days, it looks like ass atm but I'm hoping to get some good functionality and then use it on the summoners robes because it would add so much, currently struggling with getting the collision meshes to fit right, but here's where I'm at (he's just crouching down atm)
With the exception of a few props my blockout/placement is now pretty much final. I decided to use my original idea of having the dome mirrored on the other side of the room along with the another door under it so that the room now kind of makes sense as an actual functioning space. Going to start high polying stuff…
I like these new legs, they seem to be more functional, and their blockiness gives a nice contrast with the curves of his upper body. Not sure how the inner side of the elbow joint is going to bend though, you might replace this white cylinder with a rubber joint or something. Really cool design overall, I really wish I…
They have a huge selection of videos covering many topics, but their instructors are not very skilled artists. It's only good for learning the bare minimum of how to use a piece of software. It's kind of like having a five-year-old teach you how to draw with crayons. They might know how it's functionally done, but you…
Why render? Game companies re-do their materials and usually the models too, if they want to render intro movies or promo shots. If you want to show off your in-game-style asset though, use the Make Preview function in the Animation menu. Renders out what's in the viewport. Set your graphics card to use AA for better…
My favorite types of portfolios come on CD and consist of Directories with Stuff In 'Em. My theory to explain hyper-flashiness in portfolio sites is that there's an art teacher out there who's never actually been in a position to vet art applicants, but who is telling his students that true artists aren't allowed to let…
Nokia 6060 (color Series 40 phone, 64k 128x128 display, MIDP 2.0 Java support) costs around 100 euros and if you want something bare-bones, Nokia 1110 (b/w small display, only basic functionality) costs only 45 euros. So, there are options for those who want a simple phone.
I put appealing visual quality (not realism) and unique gameplay functions over anything else. I don't care for length of play. I try not to listen to it. I often avoid games that make a point of marketing game length, because you'll often get what equates to grinding or boring gameplay. I do enjoy replay value.
Yeah, if you want a video of the viewport just use the playblast function (windows -> playblast). Just turn off all your HUD stuff, make sure you set the resolution high enough and you'll probably want to max anti-aliassing. I'd simply export an uncompessed avi file or if possible (not sure) seperate images. Good luck
Thanks for the kind words. Which details to you think I should get rid of? I have removed the plate on the right side of the gun. I agree with you on the grip, I have fixed it up a bit to look more functional. Im doing the lowpoly now but having trouble with some smothing errors. Will post pics on monday.
