Hi, it is a lot of blurry, also the seams between the wood strips are not OK, there is a lot of work there, im not any kind of profesional but I can see this errors, the whole texture seems to be a kind of mud , take some references and do some tutorials about Wood, YouTube is full of them. Ok here is the total set up cage and all, now I thought if you had the cage too far away you'd get similar baking errors to having it clipping but i must be wrong. So the pink, green,blue and yellow is my high poly and the red is the cage -

I have to echo mr. panda here, using a properly taken reference photo is extremely important, even more so that you're just starting out. preferably something taken with a low FOV to minimize perspective distortion errors on your part. Search the free samples on 3d.sk perhaps. -

I would say that this is down to banding due to low surface curvature. The flat side showing the error isn't totally flat and the bake doesn't have enough resolution to accurately represent the curvature of the surface. As Bek said, bake at 16bit tiff and then use that (or dither to 8bit if you need 8bit) -

As promised, here's some pictures with wireframes. Never modeller a blade before (as I'm sure you can tell by the topology) so it's a bit of a mess. Atleast it looks decent and doesn't have any major shading errors. And here are some pictures of the knife I've been fondling vigorously for reference. -
Re: Baking Normalmap Issue
Does your low poly need to be a thin cube? Try baking to a plane if you only need one side. By the looks of how the sides of your cube are picking up the normals, it would lead me to believe that you have stacked UVs which would cause baking errors. -

the creases look a bit like dxt compression errors. not much you can do about them aside from using higher texture res. as for the clipping you should re-check that the eyelash geo is actually on top of the face geo and not intersecting. dosn't look that much as if it's a sorting issue. -

I've added some polys to the ammobox and did a testbake. Quiet happy with the outcome(there are some minor skewed details and some smoothing errors but nothing that cant be solved). I will do some proper uvws now and then hopefully I can start to texture (my fav. work). 2.7k tris
