Excellent points. Thanks for the reply :) . Im now getting more into environment work and it is hard to sometimes take it one step at the time, like you did you know. Often when you want to start something you see stepp 99 or problem 99 instead of step 1 first and then step 2. If you catch my drift ;)
How do you think the Virtual Reality sales will do now its about to hit market? Looks like Samsung is the first on the market ($99) http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/samsung-gear-vr-pre-orders-open-99-virtual-reality-headset-goes-on-sale-at-best-buy-a6728846.html
I guess no one remembers the Atari :P I recall getting my NES for $99. Noth with two games, but I could swear I bought it for $99 with controllers and Mario. Either way, my point was that the systems have gone up in prices, but come with less. Personally I hate the idea of coming home with a system that I can't even use…
Well, I just researched the XNA and I have to say, it's crap as it sits right now IMO. I have to pay $99 per year to develop a game for the 360? Then the only way I can share it is if the other person has a Creators Club license? AND, you can't develop it to be on a CD/DVD or memory stick. Guess if I get a 360, I can…
Don't you think that it's a bit pricey for something so limited and not yet production proven. I think that the average user here might be more interested if it was affordable for rather pocket money say like 20 - 40 $ and if there would be user input controls to tweak the results. A package such as Silo 3d is available…
I'm still super excited for this game, but...anybody else get that Beta VIP invite? 99$ for a beta invite, for a game that's going to be free2play, and for which there is ZERO gameplay footage or screenshots? That sounds...crazy/optimistic. Sure, it includes a "prospectors guide"(pdf) some rights to name lands in the game…
Exactly, they don't pay taxes because its not worth trying to collect it. The government looks at their income statement and says: "you know what... there isn't any meat on this bone you keep it". That is a problem, they need to make enough money that they can contribute to society. But I wonder where those jobs and raises…
disclaimer: i havent used shader fx but i presume it has similar options to unreal... i presume you cant do something as simple as an if node? if not then there's a dirty hacky way to do it - multiply your blue and red channels together and you'll have pure white where you had pure magenta. multiply this output by 100 then…
I messed around with the idea of using deep EXRs (which i assume a cryptomatte is or it wouldn't work properly) to manage texture sets a few years ago and while it worked fine the additional overhead of processing and previewing the data - as well as maintaining any tooling - far outweighed the tiny benefit you get from…
I think games are art because they are created by people to illicit an emotional response. That response might be traditional 'artistic' responses such as happiness, awe or fear but they also create emotional responses like panic, trauma and shock which are rarer when reading a novel or looking at a painting. Yeah, 99%…
