do you have an example of the same models stacked up on top of each other without the procbuilding? because it really looks like you've just got bad lightmap UVs or not enough lightmap resolution
I've looked over the guide a few times now, specifically for the metalness workflow and I think I've got it. I've written a summary to further plant it in my brain, based on the lens example in the tutorial. Is this correct?
Thanks Makkon, no problem, :) About the hooded figure, you are right, really are fast sketches in a couple of hours playing with the brushes in zbrush, for example the lion it was a simple plane without any kind of base mesh :poly142:
is it the done thing to add more geo to a poly plain (example) so you can splits its uvs and overlap them for more space on uv map or is there a better way (im using a texture sheet)
Don't you guys think this thread should be thematic? For example, one theme for week? This could make the thread even funnier. Because it would be like an unoficial sketch challenge. What do you think?
Was just about to post an example pic to explain myself better, but it looks like EQ has beaten me to it by 2 seconds, and 16 minutes... and 12 hours. I do plan to post it someday Kawe.
My daughter still plays the Toy Story 3 game that they made. It is such a wonderful example of a beautiful, well crafted, fun as hell, game...it's a shame, they produced some great stuff- hopefully they continue on in a new incarnation
I'm not liking your font. I found them distracting and annoying. Consider using cleaner font, san serif, keep them small and out of the way. Or remove them entirely. Example https://grassetti.wordpress.com/
Do what you know, you're already an environment artist, just in a different industry that uses different terminology. Here's a great example of Archvis taken into UDK: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=70509
Most shader systems can support this, using Mirror. Usually shaders use Wrap, but there's also Clamp and Mirror too, and sometimes some others. For example ... http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa915185.aspx
