are you sure you aren't mixing up the terms "ambient occlusion" and "lightmap"? the latter is baked by the engine and you never really handle it yourself. ambient occlusion, on the other hand, is usually multiplied over your diffuse texture in photoshop. don't make it too strong since shadows will be baked into the… -

Took a very long break from this project. I finally got back to finishing it, made the last of the pieces and started a low poly. So low poly is done and UVed, and I'm currently working on painting some details in the normal map as well as working on the diffuse. Any feedback let me know! -

@Snader Yeah, didn't catch that until after I had unwraped and baked everything. If I wasn't on a class schedule, I'd go back and fix it. But, I've started texturing! This is the object in UDK with the diffuse and normal map. No spec map yet. I also plan on making the orange tuning dial glow. -

nice! do textures use specular any normal maps? they seem to be reacting to the light in ways that diffuse-only textures can't. unless it's some illusion. i gotta say that i'm not sure what's the wall supposed to be made of though. it's too red to be concrete, too contineous to be bricks and too smooth to be wood. -

Could be a smoothing group issue (Max) or soft/hard edge thing (Maya). Could also be some bad baked ambient occlusion overlayed on your diffuse texture. It might even just be the nature of polygonal shading. It's kind of hard to tell, a wireframe image might help. What app are you using? -
