Thanks for the replies guise, I'll try both morphix and the mapthief script in the future. This time I did go with scalling though. It took some 15-odd minutes to get properly I'd reckon but in the end it worked.
kill the history on the mesh before mirroring it,this will resolve the dissapearance of the crease on the source mesh. if you initiate the crease tool,in the channelbox on the right, you can punch in numeric values,or even tie it to a script for consistency throughout the model.
yeah splines + path deform modifier is what i would use is max after that i might use my wrap script to adjust the belt to the underlying topology and then apply a shell modifier to give it some thickness
Just got home from the cinema, one of the worst movies I have seen in a long time. Felt like the script was made by a 12 year old D&D dungeon master. A couple of cool sceneries and that was it.
HI. I'm a coder, only a QuakeC coder though. Never experienced with anything else but some Tribes script and HL1 code. (And I don't wanna jump into the newer engines' code because OO is shit imo)
You can also use the tremendous plug in called Textools (for 3dmax) and the function "explode by smoothing group". That will separate uvs shell every hard edge. This script is smart and clever. Thanks to "RenderHjs". http://www.renderhjs.net/textools/
I remember someone wrote a MEL script for this ages ago over at CGTalk, but it was for Maya 5 or 6 I think. edit: I think it was this, but haven't tried it our personally. http://www.safakoner.com/rnd/sobrowser/sobrowser.html
2 things I think you might want to change: get rid of the monster squirrel as it's your weakest piece, and don't use that image popup script, it makes it impossible to open multiple images at a time in tabs.
Great work man. I love the cloth! Just curious, how much script did you need to write to get this working? And can we get a shot of your anim tree for the vehicle? great work!
sorry for bumpin but I wanted to share this script by SinisterGFX: boxmapper I use it allllll the time, it gives you easy buttons to box map your selection at different sizes and has an option to auto-collapse as well.
