Could have been a modular mesh also. The "unseen" triangles might be seen based on how the model is used in certain spots. -

I read someone was actually taking the modular bits and using Developer Tools -> Merge Actors to force rendering on same core. -

I think this is a good idea. Sort of like turbo squid but in reverse. Games companies should become more modular anyway. -
