A tip for MMB transform: don't keep clicking the button, click and hold>drag to the desired axis. It will dynamically snap to each axis and then you can release.(although it sounds like you've already released upon discovering this....... :D )
I thought MMB should be in transform modal map but it isn't. I'd even mess with python if i knew it is possible but I can't find it in API refernce either. I'm new to blender and I feel that I'm missing something.
@armians when you install GoB you need to first set a file inside the Zapps folder in zbrush that comes with the addon. That file contains all the conversion handling between Zbrush and Blender, including the Axis transform settings and scale.
I'm working on recreating Blenders transform system in 3DSMax: Almost done creating the basic move/grab part for objects, including snapping. Still a ways from release, but I thought a few people in here might find it interesting. :)
@"another caveman" Blender's modifiers are built into Blender deeply, you cannot create a modifier addon without having to create a separate blender branch. Here's a link to a website containing various Blender's branches https://blender.community/c/graphicall/ ) Luckily blender already has what you're looking for. That's…
You would place the 3d cursor where you want it to pivot, change the transformation orientation to normal, select which edges you want aligned, then press Z + Z (or YY etc) then Scale 0. At least that's how I would do it.
Some questions. I'm coming from Modo, and thinking about doing some of the modeling tasks in Blender in the future (love the Hardops/ Boxcutter tools). I'm not sure if Blender really can compete with Modos modeling tools. Maybe you can tell me if Blender can: - deform polygons with a falloff. Not talking about sculpting -…
picked up blender again, and got annoyed by the transform tools. so I started creating a workplane addon. it can set transform orientations and auto plane constraints from view. The move/rotate/scale commands just wrap the default ones and set the constraints on it. If not in workplane mode the commands fall back to the…
I cant move vertices/ edges in the "Transform Orientations" > local, but can move them In Global. any suggestions on this? . I have subscribed to Blender cloud and gone through the series "From maya, max to Blender". This has been really helpful in clearing a lot of my beginner doubts. :)
just set the 3d curosor tool orientation to 'None' before you pick a new location? so its a bit of a two step process right now - first set alignment via transform / surface / view, and then set position via set cursor to active or clicking with orientation 'None'
