It has a world space scale now, instead of screen space as before, which is great! Still can't do straight lines on the surface of an object though, so there's still a need for my tape tool :)
Can anyone recommend settings that improve the flatten/polish brush for sculpting? I've figured out most of blender's brushes except this one, it seems to bulge the surface out more often than polish it.
Thanks for the detailed reply. In regards to "1", I am referring to moving a vertex along the face of the mesh it belongs to, not a mesh onto another mesh. Much like how constrain to edge works, but on the actual surface.
Have you guys seen this addon? I haven't tried it yet, but from the video it seems like it could be a pretty nice time saver for hard-surface modeling in Blender. https://gumroad.com/l/hardops/#
Well, that does sounds useful but quite different isn't it ? I don't see how that could help with evening out verts along an existing surface loop - as a matter of fact ... that looks pretty much like the opposite :)
When using profile 1 on curved surfaces, I think the pinching comes from the edge being "too flat" and not following the curvature. The topo was very simple, didn't actually save that thing, here another one.
Going to have to slap on 2.57 soon and play with looptools, yay. A hard surface modeling DVD is being released that looks pretty good. http://www.blendercookie.com/2011/04/08/vehicle-series-complete-and-available-for-purchase/
Can the latest Blender contrain to face? I know it can constrain to edge, but in Max and I think Maya, you have the option to contrain to face/surface. 2) Is set-flow built into Blender? Or is it an optional plug in?
Masterxeon 1001 is developing a tool-set to speed up hard surface modelling in Blender - 'HardOps'. It looks pretty cool. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_HT_D9eDpI[/ame] Here it is on GumRoad: https://gumroad.com/l/hardops/#
I found this UV packing addon recently: https://gumroad.com/l/UVShotPacker When used in combination with TexTools and Multi Object UV Editing, unwrapping dozens of hard-surface objects becomes a whole lot easier. Pretty awesome stuff.
