@Ninjas, sorry, I wasn't really talking about you specifically but to the general masses who critizise the Blender developers because they rejected their ideas. I sympathize with you and I still don't understand why you got banned from the IRC.
There have been rumors that Valve has been in talks with the Blender Foundation. I would rather Blender not be under the thumb of a commercial company, so hopefully this won't lead to some manner of buyout. I don't think it will, but still. With any luck, we will just see better support for Blender in the Source engine. I…
Yeah there's a bloke at my work who has been talking up the Grease pencil feature since it started getting shown. The demo videos i've seen have some impressive stuff in them and it looks like it could be a really useful retopo tool.
Cavity mask for mesh painting is in? Nice! That will really help out with roughness maps. Also I appreciate the developer humor when talking about bug fixes: "As for every Blender release, no bugs were fixed. Creating new ones is much more fun!"
The marking menu is what i'm talking about. it's all context related and menu driven. i'm not here to pick a fight or anything, but i don't want to spend most of my time looking for things. The gesture thing is a pet peeve of mine especially on droid apps >_<
??? did you check out blender recently ? (like in the last year) or are you talking about this ugly as hell interface blender had once, a long time ago the "new" interface is really good in my opinion. at least a trillion times better than maya
On the Blender Artist forums I think there was also talk about trying to make an addon that is like the UE4 character animation/rigging tools plugin that's in maya. So that might have something to do with it as well? Could be for ways to automate the naming of bones to fit the setup for UE4.
Crouch is quickly becoming the premier script dev for blender...his stuff is so awesome :D Also, 2.57RC2 is out guys and there is talk about a release this week too :) http://download.blender.org/release/Blender2.57/ http://lists.blender.org/pipermail/bf-committers/2011-April/031417.html
Oh I agree, the interface could use a lot of work, I'm just saying the base framework is very, very nice. I really miss customisable panels/palettes/toolbars, for one. What Ton's talking about is just the default layout of the interface though, that's all.
Yeah, this isn't currently possible. There's been talk of making everything apply to your entire selection by default, but the topic's been stuck in option paralysis hell for years now. Here's a free addon that does what you want: https://blenderartists.org/t/multiple-object-batch-uv-tools-plugin-free/1450400
