:) seems like old ground and it is in a way created an Outliner interface to better integrate some of my tools.... basically anything with an "outline" mesh, spline or modifier can be can be used as a "cutter", a plane in plane
added a video tutorial on the flickr Tool in shoebox, it shows how it can use the system clipboard to paste bitmaps online (which I use every day at work with private url's set in the settings). Decided to Add Group/Multiple Object Support for the Target Mesh. So now instead of only using 1 Mesh, you can use the current selection (Groups, Meshes) and it creates a Target Mesh from that. Although, by doing this, there is a chance the tool could error if you change selections while in Preview Mode, and select one of…
Been wanting to try creating a flow map shader and pulled the trigger today. A bit tricky at first but quite easy once you get the concept. No real fancy shading beyond the flow map functionality. I did render depth to a texture (as I'm not sure I can do it real-time) and used that to tint the color a bit and fade out…

I did not want to create a new thread for one single question, so I thought I could ask here: How come my Max previews ambient occlusion only in orthographic view, not in perspective?
Flowmap Generator is now available on the asset store, the thread on Unity's forums has some more info and a link to the asset. http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/194577-Flowmap-Generator-Create-flowmaps-using-a-fluid-simulation-RELEASED
I guess its one way to familiarize oneself with blender ;) and I think I would do the same. Just create a panel in python that mimics many of the great features in 3dsMax and then slowly dive into the blender world
