@Cortes: new to max 2009 or new to max at all? nice robot.. though i would be careful on the placement of rust, make it more believable. and if the blue parts are that rusty, chances are they wouldnt be so shinny would they? neither would the chrome spheres. imho

Robot, looks pretty good. The tip of the barrel bothers me though, I didn't notice it on your high poly until I saw the marmo shot. It looks like the parts near the square holes are accidentily flat. From the marmo shot, I first thought it was an edge normal problem
Oh I love me some world war robot. You doing the whole bad boy or just the launcher? Yeah the white parts just part of the mat cap. Probably should play with better ones for a nicer render. It is part of a larger scene though that will get modeled out and put into UDK...

NotoriousPIG: you raise a good point and one that I haven't fully thought out yet :poly122:. i may bend the cable to make it less obtrusive, give the wielder, who in this case is going to be a robot, some abnormal wrist structure, or just take it out all together. i need more time to doodle out what I want:)

I am making part of a robot. I say part of one as I haven't actually figured out what it's limbs should be yet. reference sketch I was kinda terrified to post these at all cuz I know that they're pretty bad. even though I'm just making a low-poly mesh and then going to UVmap and texture it, it's still kinda foreboding…
Where does the mail go? What does all the technical detailing do? It's incredibly noisy in detail, and the form is overtaking the function to a point where, if "Mailbox" wasn't typed onto the image, I would have no clue that this was anything other than a Transformer robot. All a mailbox needs to be is a box with a slot…
