do you mean one that also does good obj export/import to resolver hard surface normal baking ? because right now i can only bake good hard surface normals inside maya.
Hi everyone. Hope somebody can help. Has anyone encountered a similar problem like this? I'm getting some strange banding issues with a xNormal (left) bake in Unity. On the other hand, 3dsMAX (right) one looks OK.
right, here is a better shot. I am just checking "smooth normals" is this not a desirable way of doing things? I'm sure it has something to do with it, but have seen countless examples of the same stuff that do work. Example 2
It means you have polys that have no uvs, either delete all uvs or uv those polys. You cant have only some polys uv its xnormal gets mad. This probablly in your highpoly mesh, right?
If you wanted to view an environment model then yeah HDR would be great, and only if the effect could be adjusted, but for standalone objects, just seeing the bloom coming from the emissive textures is just right I think. Thanks again for the tool!
K, something isn't right on my end - not sure what. I did as you suggested but the error keeps showing up. Max has been acting weird lately anyway - I'll just re-install it. Thanks jogshy!
I cant open my normal maps in photoshop? What's up with that. I have the nvidia tex tools installed (https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-texture-tools-adobe-photoshop) "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document"
Thanks for making it even easier to preview things properly, as well as making it easy to take decent screenshots with a minimum of work involved. I'm off to have a go at it right now. Also, is there a way to change the size of the window if you're in windowed mode?
The only way to stop the rays is to use a blocker, otherwise it's infinite only. Create just simple mesh (like planes) where you want to block the rayon. In xNormal, in the low-poly list, right click on you mesh > load blocker file.
Hmm... I will have to keep playing around with it more. I've switched to Mental Ray when doing bakes in Max, and it's a little slower, but produces clean bakes. Those images in the post above look nice towards the right, but it seems to be too much work.
