Vertex painting can get you the same look, but it requires separating the mesh into separate elements, or splitting edges to get hard edges on color separation. I do agree that painting vertex colors is a lot faster though.
machineminded...photoshop clouds? they are really really obvious thats not cool... the model is good but the texture could be painted alot better, check out some mechanical stuff and choose a colour pallette and paint it up instead of using filters.
Hi Optinium,I love your works,well done! :) I was wondering,wich resolution is the diffuse texture in your weapon? In case it is 512x512,you paint it directly at that resoluzion or you paint it like at 1024x1024 then scale it down?

Blender has... a brush tool and... a colour select tool i believe which work well, then a couple of dodgy tools which seem to give mixed results (smear and stamp), which is fine for painting in the lines of where things go at the start, but later on when im painting the skin colours etc i need to be able to keep track of…
