That steampunk soldier doesnt look too greatly optimised, i can see alot of areas where polys can be taken out. For example the legs are only 4 sided but the arms are 6 sided, you could take them down to 4 or 5 sides without losing much silhouette. The circular parts on the side of the head can also lose a few edges as the…
@michael milano - beautiful work, very clean. Been working on a tower for a little project, the main base will be used for 3 or 4 variations, this being the first. I'll be adding a little more detail and a door next. (Scene is in Unity)
Delko & Tennis, great stuff guys! really had a longing to do some proper pixelart lately, so today I doodled up this guy here :) I bet you know who he is :) 4 frame animation
I can't see how thats 125 tris, or using a 128x128 texture...? It could be done with about 50 polygons maybe, and it shouldn't be a 1:1 texture at all, totally a 1:4...? Hmmmm... Care to post wires and the texture?
Lovely work! One thing that buggers me about it is the box shaped arms and specially gloves, the 4 sides are fine just should be rotated 45degrees so they appear less boxy. As allready mentioned the texture rocks, specially the overalls.
I just finished this for a small contest: Wireframe/closeup I couldn't get 5 spokes to look good at that resolution, so 4 it is. First time I ever try this superlow stuff btw. It's pretty easy and fun :p
OMG you need some <3 and we missed giving you here are ideas 1) seams! fix them 2) some ambient lighting 3) edge quality needs more finesse 4) more subtleties to hide edge
Here's a hot rod I made took me around 4-5 hours.. Wireframe(Tris:1162)(tex:512) and a NES (Tris 1094)(tex:512) @ Jonas: Man, that is awesome.. @ gilesruscoe: nice coloring.. @ Sauron: nice animations..
We need that workshop #4!!!! If anyone knows who I could talk to to suggest a topic for it lemme know. It would be really awesome to do a hand painting workshop especially since there seems to be a burst of interest in it lately. edit: that's pretty hilarious
That being said, do you really need more than one pixel borders? In the image you posted you might, but that's about 4 or 5 times the size it would be on the DS. I imagine a single pixel might be wide enough?
