hey people i'm back! i've been busy to work on other stuff but i haven't forgotten the contest. I've come up with four thumbnails, let me know which one you find more interesting or if you'd blend/modify something!
Coming from Softimage, Maya has technique method of usability, while the now dead Softimage had more a method whereas you would use the operator stack and ICE, prior to ICE, the operator stack and, none else morphs or in Maya blend shapes :)
I'm no expert, but one thing that seems a bit odd. The jaw line coming down from the ear, you wouldn't have that so much, it needs to be a lot softer, blended in more, I think. The face looks a bit like a mask in that top view.
Looks much better, good job! That stroke/fold in the middle-left needs to blend a little more, right now it is clearly a stroke towards its end(the two little ones towards the bottom too). But very nice update, keep working it :D
You should always have your UV snapshot in a layer if you are working on your textures in a 2d program. That would remedy whatever confusion bleeding might bring. Maybe go 0 dilation/padding while working and add the dilation at the end of the process.
You can bake it to bones and blend the anims, or you can dynamically simulate, or you can combine the two. You kind of have to profile it in your game to see which performs better, it depends on what else is going on in the scene, and your target hardware.
well, you always can edit the post but not delete new about the blend shapes, the problem was maya 2013... on 2012 it WORKED!!!! Your tutorial helped a lot! i cant believe after amost a week trying that it finally worked, huge thanks sir!
Yea, I'd say it's baked. They do. NDs character rigs use a combination of joints + corrective blend shapes + wrinkle maps. They're doing some new collision based deformation with UC4 too that they've shown off a bit in some other videos.
I don't think there's a way without a cgfx/hlsl shader. I remember Bryce Vandermoortele did a vertex blending shader that has what you want. here's the link: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=54839&highlight=terrain+vertex+shader
Yeah, I've used this. Buggy but as was said, it's free and it gets the job done. All I wanted was a way to paint meshes that used a custom vertex blended shader and it pretty much worked. Wanted to check out okkun's link but it's not loading over here at the moment. :/
