I usually just Dot the fresnel with the LightVector and that makes it for me besides that I see a big difference in the face's specularity, for which you will at least need a specular glossiness map (use it as alpha in a lerp between 1 and, say, 128 - then connect to the spec power input) great model btw
its some proper CAD software, i use it in my current engineering course. really really powerful stuff if you use it right. this is the first time ive seen it used for something that isnt mechanical parts, got to say its worked really well. good job man!
I'd do things in this order:* Graphics drivers * Card settings (in the control panel) * Make sure Aero is ON. * Make sure your task bar isn't set to Auto-Hide * Log video card data * Memtest * Why do you have 7 and not 6 or 8? * Power consumption.
Another update :D I almost done with the sculpt, I only need to polish some minor things and then I can start with the retopo. I also changed the horns a bit to something that looks more powerful and traditional. Here is a quick test to see if the sculpt would fit with in the game:
http://www.gaspowered.com/ http://www.gaspowered.com/press.php THQ AND GAS POWERED GAMES TEAM UP TO CREATE NEW FRANCHISE - SUPREME COMMANDER FAMED PC DEVELOPER CHRIS TAYLOR SETS SIGHTS ON REVOLUTIONIZING RTS GENRE This game is crazy nuts, i know cuz i walk by it everyday at work ;-)
I can't get over the fact of how bad that texture looks.. god it's a fucking rust can... I'm taking another approach on this, going to power up the old scheme designer and pick a good color palate. After than I'm going to start mucking about with the texture again.
while the textures and polygon flow are both pretty bad, this is a rather neat method of quickly mocking something up.. depending on how powerful the software is, it could be useful for creating high poly meshes.. kinda interesting to see the old method of making a *real* model and then scanning it in take a new twist.
Shame maya does not have XSI's equivelent of the M tool. It's a nifty tool that when turned on, will allow you to select any point, edge, or face without changing modes. snap, weld and move at any given moment without a mode change. I found this tool exceptionally powerful.
If you want the best, you have to pay through the teeth. I just dropped $350 on my new 8800GTS a few weeks ago, and even that isn't powerful enough to run some current games maxed out. It's just the way PC hardware is. The way it's always been always will be.
Oh man, I had totally forgotten about Magic Carpet, Vassago. Yeah, I had loads of fun on that - it was a game which gave you a great feeling of power, flying over your minions in your castle that keeps growing in size, killing giant creatures and other magicians :)
