I think there's a design problem to be addressed too, because it's very tame and bland here. For one, the blade shape needs a more clean taper to it, and overall visually you aren't utilizing your forms to their fullest extent. Push the silhouette and idea of a toucan further. If you're doing hard surface in Zbrush then I would make extensive use of the clipping brushes and the "mask and extract" techniques. Personally I would just sub d model the armor in Max then send it to Zbrush for detailing. If you're doing it all in Zbrush then I would roughly sketch out the armor with dynamesh then mask… -

Unless you are targeting strategy games, I think your model is too low in geometry. If you wish to use it in games, you would need to rig it and you need at least 3 loops around the joints for them to bend properly. Try avoiding hard edges, because if you plan to use normal maps extensively, even they won`t help you in… -

just dont use the stupid texel compression - i just finished a whole title with extensive use of the nns_tga, it works like a charm if you work with the limitations in mind. you just have to export them correctly from photoshop that max has an alpha channel to work with, as the nns stuff is just in the tga header.. read…
