So I done some tests with the floor and normal maps. No texture yet. I made the floor in 256 unit long sections. They snap together fine, but when I rebuild the lighting I get this problem with the normals where the pieces join. Any ideas what this is and how to fix it? -

ROBEOMEGA, DOOMATHON, what I did : - ColorLookupTable (gamma, color/saturation) - HeightFog (density, height, falloff and distance) - FogVolume added in the corridor (for density control inside and on the outside) - some light parameters - rebuild all lights And I'm probably going to upgrade this work to… -

Thank you, I really appreciate it :) I'm in the middle of totally rebuilding the ceiling, I really didn't think it worked well. I intend to make it from static meshes. And yes the event horizon will be animated, probably going to have to animate with shaders as UE4 doesn't support video files at the moment :( -

Just finished rebuilding the stadium in maya. Is 33k polys + probably a lot more ( in later details) going to cause a perfomance problem in Unreal? This is going to be a map for a multiplayer fps so I hope there won't be any problems there. What if I had 1 mil polys , would that cause a performance problem ? -

awesome, thanks you two, this is what I was looking for. I have some weird anxiety, after spending a couple hours on a sculpt and realize I need to add or do a major change, I can't bring myself to destroy and rebuild lol. These tips will help me greatly, thank you! -

how come unreal editor is always so sluggish. I mean I love the tech , but even when i was working full time on games with unreal engine it just chugged in every way ie rebuilding shader, ui refresh. perhaps I am doing somehting worng here:/ -

I'm afraid that didn't work but thank you for the suggestion. :( I've reset xforms, reopened Max, put it all in to a new file too and nothing. The only thing that works is deleting the problem edges and remaking them but I may as well just rebuild the entire damn thing. I need a solution! -

soooo much work left, rebuilding the old model, almost from scratch, and while redoing it for the highpoly of the ingame version, i already do set it up to be printed, with an inside layout for wiring the rotors and positioning lights etc. to be powered by 2 AAA batteries takes sooo much longer :X -

To the OP - try toggling the post process on and off - the black marks might just be ssAO. Otherwise try setting the lightmap to something ridiculous - like 1024 and seeing what shapes happen when you rebuild lighting. It might give you clues that show where the black marks are coming from.
