pixelmitherer: I love the general head but I need to ask was that one made in mudbox or zbrush? I still cant figure out how to sculpt really nice defined hard edges VIA zbrush yet. All my edges keep coming out blobish still :\ Looking Ace otherwise
Trying to get better at correctly getting someone's likeness in 3D. I avoid using Reference planes as much as possible, and sculpt by eye (I figure it's a bit of a crutch, and I'll be a better artist without it). This one took just under 4 hours from start to finish (including time chatting to friends).
EricV: When you triangulate those flat circular surfaces, instead of connecting everything to one vert, why not do this? It uses the same amount of tris, but lights better than the one vert method (with normal maps that's probably not a problem though) Stimpack, that first head's cool! Today's sculpt, from zspheres:
@Neox Ha, I guess I'm trapped in my comfort zone but I do realize I should get out of it.. Glad you like it! Also, I am with Hugh. Would really really love to see how you go about making your sculpts. Incredible work as usual! (saved) :)
pardon the interruption...concept sculpt for a robot, needs retop for sure, dunno how i feel about the feets...coments and crits most welcome, i am very new to bot design. and yes i refrenced some ideas from Taehoons awesome dw2 piece as well as Zone of the Enders concepts. -Woog
Woohoo! Thank the heavens (or the pixologic people more accurately) for sculptris! I've been dying to try out this new type of tool, and now I can! Here is my first attempt at these sculpting programs, only had about 45 mins to fiddle: You guys sure are inspired! There are tons of really impressive stuff in here!
tnx for the comments guys :) Supa: try to focus on the overall structure at first and then go into the smaller details, also try to define some planes Niwon: good job, looks pretty good to me, maybe some more volume in the lips and rounder eyelids but that could be more of a preference took the time to do anothere quicky…
Some Sweet pieces of work on this thread. Thought I'd post a few of my speed sculpts up. They fit the bill of work started without any hope of finishing it! Bit of a cheek as I have already posted these up on my Sketchbook thread.:poly139: Perhaps not speedy enough at 2 hours each, but I hope to get faster!
guess this is a speed sculpt, about 1 hour, from Sketchup 7, into 3D Coat and out as a 438 tri low-poly obj. I'm just practicing making assets for a personal game project, trying to figure out what works quickly for me, without too much time getting lost in details...since I do that a lot.
This is my first sculpt of a human head I've done, I need to work on my human designs so I'm going to start doing a lot more studies like this; roughly 2-3 hours. It's of the wrestler CM Punk. Here's the gallery of images I used for reference Please let me know what you think.
