I have been using the y500 since early 2012 and can say it has been BY FAR the best laptop I have ever owned, or even used. The build quality is about a 9/10 (this is due me getting a laptop from the first batch, which used a now replaced a sometimes faulty touchpad) but the reliability, power, and price point put it at a…
For sure Modularity can translate into interiors. http://www.thiagoklafke.com/modularenvironments.html Even spaceships can be modular; [ame] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OilFvOkkKbE[/ame] Props are usually a lot more forgiving in their placement in a level, so the grid system isn't a problem, as you said correct scale…
I think how we do this is that we process each mip to be properly blurred, we don't just use the mips as is. Also, for the lowest mips we don't use super low resolution images, they have a fixed minimum level and blur the blurriest ones more, rather than just using lower mips as this doesn't look great. From my…
All right, had time today to get this thing going. The vertex paint is the way I'm going to do it. As you can see by the screenshot (definitely not final textures, just a TEST!!!), works fairly well with diffuse textures, so it should work fine with normals as well. I'll be using a 256 x 512 tiled texture for the main body…
The scales of the dragon are too uniform. If you look at pictures of snakes, lizards and crocodiles, you will find that the scales have diffirent size, texture and shape depening on where on the animal they are and what purpose they have. Use reference! http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/ad/Crocodile.JPG…
Those UVs look good. What happens with a flat normal map in there? Do you still get that seam? If the seam goes away when you use a flat map, it's a problem with the normal map/UVs/Shader. If it doesn't go away, it may be that Max is gamma correcting your normal maps. I noticed it doing this to us here when we upgraded to…
Looks like it's up, if I'm following the links in those articles correctly - they link to the google webcache, but following those links puts you on TVTrope's site again. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SexualHarassmentAndRapeTropes?from=Main.RapeTropes Specific callouts that those articles state were taken down…
Thought I would be a bit critical and point out that your current way of unwrapping is very wasteful, Its a really good idea to get very optimal in your work flow as you will begin to break down things more easily. If that was a prop on a console for an environment in lets say... a first person shooter, I can't see it…
This was posted on the Dota2 blog at the conclusion of the Polycount contest in 2012. Now obviously the workshop exploded to be much larger than it was 2 years ago with not only a huge increase in submission but also various types of submissions (particles, animations, loading screens etc) which would undoubtedly make it…
Thanks dude! ive got some more progress ill post up shortly. For the bake, I toyed around with some ideas, but I really want to get dynamic dirt on the vehicle, so as it drives it kicks up dirt and gets damaged and dirty of the course of the cinematic. I decided id go for mid-poly with normal maps. Ive done some test and…
