You can temporarily hide objects within the same texture set in Painter by adding an opacity channel and giving an opacity fill layer to each object. Also be sure to enable the alpha test shader. Cool project!
Picked it up tonight - sooo awesome. The only object I could think of that didn't work was laser cannon. It just gave me a regular cannon. Otherwise, yeah they really did pack a crapload of objects in this game.
Chances are i have miss out a fair few objects in the environment from small containers to kitchen objects such as the fridge and oven. These will be made as i tick off what i currently have on the list so far.
Looks like those faces are inverted. Select the offending objects, then right click, go to object properties, and check on "Backface cull" If they disapear then they are facing the wrong way. In edit poly > poly mode, there is a "flip button" that will fix it.
The reason why it is not placed properly is one either of these(or both): 1. The location and rotation of your object is not on 0,0,0 (x,y,z) 2. You didn't bone the object or you boned it improperly.
OMG! well it worked I baked 4x4k and looks great, will see how it will work with multiple objects on 4x4k map. I also increased object scale in xNormal to 10 instead of 1.
This is a really old thread I know, but In case anyone encounters this problem, just select the object in the outliner. Once there, right click the object and select the shapes option. Should be self explanatory from there
Yes, you can group your objects (CTRL+G). or about bottom left corner OBJECT -> GROUP. Generally if you're searching for something it might be a good idea to press SPACE and search for it.
The simplest way would be to create a plane at the appropriate position & orientation and use a Compound Object->Boolean (in Max). The quality of the cut can vary, but it's generally pretty reliable with a simple object like a plane.
I think lower is better is the right thing. Polyunwrapper seems to be slower on less objects and low resolutions but is way more faster then 3dsmax standard or version 1.0 at higher resolution with many objects;)
