Congratulations on earning your first money from what you like to do! From the small roof of windmill, i like more the first one :) I am right now working on similar project but in realistic style so it is interesting to follow your progress on this. Cheers
Its ok :) I just want to create a near-photorealistic interactive demo in Unity, and am gathering all the info I can. From effects, to illumination models, shaders and texturing. Any help on how to push the graphics look more realistic in a game engine is welcomed :)
What I mean't with the trees, is that the art style is all over the place. If you are going for a more stylized results, you could sculpt it, yeah. For more realistic result, you can check out the hair creation threads in the technical talk. There were a lot of them these days.
Wow, you guys have really figured out how to make worn metal look realistic. Fantastic, love the different layers to the material, metal, rust, paint, dirt, incredible. Would love to see a texture breakdown and how much work you do in dDo.
CG Masters has a DVD on environment modeling and texturing with Blender. BlenderGuru had a video a while back on realistic texturing too. I wouldn't be too afraid of dabbling in something that isn't strictly Blender to pick up some workflow tips. Texturing is pretty platform agnostic.
I am a Gundam fan and I approve of this! You got all the nice chunky shapes of the model in there, nice job! This is probably the best Gundam model I've seen in a while :) Also wanted to compliment the material definition on it...it's realistic looking but it fits well with the anime-mech style.
Either. Just know I've seen some moss looking stuff in there. And full agreement about working with a few layers to get realistic moss. Just be sure to know what it looks like up close because it may be a surprise if you've never looked at it carefully before.
I should really reinstall BF2, I loved that game. I'm going to be getting BC2 mainly because the BF series is about as good as it gets for semi-realistic multiplayer shooters with infantry, vehicles, and aircraft, as well as the stance that DICE has taken on the PC version of the game.
This is quite interesting so far. Make sure you've got a type of tree species that you're trying to sculpt if you're going realistic, and get lots of detailed ref photos. I feel like tree bark is super complex, so good on you for going after it!
If you have enough self discipline, motivation and a realistic view on what quality level you need to hit in order to get employed then learning at home is totally doable. You also need to decided which specialization to choose, environments are a different field compared to vehicles and weapons.
