Sorry just missed your most recent post. I will start searching for best UV unwrapping practice. Sorry for noob questions. Any keywords or links let me know.
Easy ways to get the practice you need are to participate in the monthly character art forum here on polycount. Its and easy excuse to learn how to match a concept and improve your art.
Looks nice already :) Will be the shirt visible? If the jacket will always be on top then you made some additional work you didn't have to do :D On the other side its great practice
It's alright, you'll figure it out with practice :) Just don't rely on your mind's eye/imagination/assumptions too much with this sort of stuff - nothing beats testing things out thoroughly.
theres no real secret to how achieve that level of art... just practice, over and over and over again. Take this one all the way to completion, and your next one will be way better
It's time for you to learn ZBrush. With highres sculpt, you can then bake info down to your lowpoly mesh, which will be cleaner and more practical than what you currently have.
Great stuff so far! I've been starting to practice modeling & texturing aircraft models and such as well and it's definitely a challenge! Especially sci fi stuff! Looking forward to your approach!
Working on this, practicing PBR a bit more. Trying to figure out how to make the yellow bits more interesting. Still working on the handle, and really, all of it. But it's coming along. And without the lights on:
Yog-Shoggoth - No problem and thank you, no idea what to work on next OverMarvelous - Haha, I agree about the cloth. I totally need to practice it a lot more, thanks for the crits.
If you were truly lazy, Rhoutermans, you'd have hoverzoom. : D Other than that I agree. Practice to make it as modular as possible and use it to learn materials and setting it up in engine.
