Telltale found the niche and got into through having done many licensing-games and then scored a publishing and funding deal with gametap, they distributed sam & max exclusively to begin with. Without that deal they would've never been able to do it. With what money?, they've been wanting to make psychonauts 2 for quite…
So I've got the basic vector projection math working to get the position of the 4th point. I'm hard coding this by placing spheres at the vert postions and then generating and moving the 4th one into place with this function. I'll keep hammering away at this unless someone else gets it figured out. function QuadPoint pA pB…
It's a nice start, but I think the main page is too busy - art, text description, and sidebar make for a fairly crowded space. The white background is a bit stark; a medium gray (such as that seen on a certain artist forum ;) ) is more typical. The title banner is also a bit minimalist, at least for an artist's site; many…
It's kind of funny cause my original concept was to bring the PROJECT: Overdrive skins into environment pieces, however this was before this contest was truly open and RIOT showing their new PROJECT skins, trailers, and new 3v3 level. The art direction for those are awesome and I want to incorporate them into my entry so I…
Zbrush just simply has no camera. The FOV is a perspective skew in a orthographic projection. You can see this happening when you reimport the same mesh but with a lot bigger bounds. Like adding a cube 10 meters away from your character (or whatever) Another way of showing that it isnt a camera is, that its impossible to…
Hello everyone, I started working on the sci-fi crate earlier this week and this is where I'm at now. I had to take some decisions here and there to adapt the concept to 3D but overall I'm happy with it. I still need to finish some floaters for the panel lines, which is something I decided to try in this project.
Shamelessly reposting since it got buried at the bottom of the last page: Here's hopefully a question with a quick answer. After doing a bunch of projects, if I search for a phrase like "normal" or "height" (for example, searching for the normal-to-heightmap filter), I'll see all the normal or height maps I've baked in…
It's not exactly perfect and its more of a feature of Autodesk Vault than anything else. If you don't have Vault enabled it will say status is "unknown" when the path is correct... or if its broken. So you can't really trust it for checking paths. But it works well for changing a lot of paths quickly. There also is a bug…
In my experience, as a hobyist: iteration times are important. Your skill level is going to improve project-to-project more drastically than through a single project. You are going to have a much better result on your next project by starting fresh with new experience than sitting and trying to perfect your current project.
