j_swan: Thanks a lot. Larry: Those are scattered depending on material layer (instanced meshes via the foliage system). I am testing a few different approaches for doing terrain... some are parallax occlusion, some are tessellated displacement, some involved scattered instanced meshes. They all have pros and cons I guess :)
Tis is all very cool. What are the poly counts used in this game? i remember playing the demo of dow and the models look higher poly than your standard rts. Im realy loving just hte simple walk animation with the guy in the sword. Its very good along with the cloth swaying nicely.

those cheeks remind me of marius from diablo 2 you really need to pull them up. right now she looks like an old woman with her skin sagging at her cheeks. either that or just REALLY tired. dont take that badly though. its comming along really nicely

im assuming your going for more this guy not the normal night elf. if so its looking good but id like to see your texture with more break up with darker browns and desaturated on the gold its not really that bright. in a image i can find, also the horns need to bow more, and ears are to wide.
See a lot of the other games mentioned in this thread are only going half retard. GTA 4 had brilliant human elements infused in the story about redemption, racism, and family, to go with running over hookers, and shooting cops. looks cool. Maybe add some slight bowing to the wooden frame...with this being as old and worn as it is it surely wouldn't be so perfectly straight. You do it a little bit on the stairs, but everything else is too right angled. I really the spots where the paint is worn/chipped off and the wood is exposed. That looks…
